By participating in this 1-hour group learning educational program, participants will gain:

  • Understanding of a simplified, single-inhaler management strategy as the optimal asthma treatment
  • Recognition of patient over-dependency on SABA and how to overcome this
  • Awareness of the paradoxes inherent in current asthma management strategies
  • Awareness of the potential consequences of suboptimal treatment with SABA-based therapies
  • Knowledge of the latest science in asthma management, including updated GINA and CTS guidelines, for the optimal management of mild and moderate-to-severe asthma

Dr. Matthew Boyd

MD, FRCPC

Dr. Matthew Boyd is a respirologist working out of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, PEI. Born and raised in nearby Nova Scotia, Dr. Boyd obtained his medical degree from Dalhousie University in 2007, and then one on to complete his residency in IM and respirology from the University of Ottawa. Upon completion, he opened his practice as a respirologist in Antigonish , N.S. before moving to Charlottetown.
